Screencastify

In one of my other master courses, the teacher posted online lectures notes with her voice recorded over the notes and I find this very helpful. I didn't know how to do this but stumbled across Screencastify while playing around in the 5203 Course page and found a posting of another student using it. After a quick look at it I can already see huge potential with it. In posting course assignments or powerpoints, I can see that I would be able to record myself and highlight important aspects of the slides or to add extra information. I think this would benefit students greatly. I am having trouble using google sites in how to organize different items within one section, it is almost like they are all set to line up with each other rather than the freedom to move them around. I created a video using screencastify to try and explain the problem and found it funny that I was using one new technological tool to try and solve another.

Using Google Sites

I created my first website several weeks ago using Google Sites and found the process fairly straightforward. There are still many things I want to learn but over time I believe I will. Just now I was able to use Google Forms to create a rough copy of an assessment form so students can create an online journal for a story we are reading in class. Now, I am happy because I figured out how to create the form, paste it into my website, and create a link to an online grammar checker to help the students writing. Yet, I still want to find a way to do it so students can see their individual records of what they post and to be able to see long responses. So far with Google Forms, you can only see a few words. As a teacher in the social sciences, if I wanted to use this online tool for long answer responses I would want to know how I could do it so students can see their answer in full before posting. But more to come. I am pleasantly surprised with the ease I have had at using go...
